It's Time to Transform Your Life

I shared with our Abraham-Hicks discussion group a recent experiment I conducted with me, myself, and I as subjects.

As I went about mundane household tasks one morning (tidying up, laundry, and such), I deliberately chose random, out-of-the-blue happy thoughts. (I was already in a fairly happy mood to start with.)

I envisioned various happy festivities at my son Joel's wedding in Houston this coming August.

A little later, I envisioned my daughter Emily absolutely enthralled with life at University of Central Florida, where she'll be a frosh this autumn.

I imagined Mark and me on a variety of joyous occasions - vacations, celebrations, and spontaneous fun. I fantasized about my "Think Happy Thoughts & Good Things Will Happen" bumper magnet increasingly popping up on highways and buy-ways. I even dreamed about Mark and I starting our family (in the form of a cuddly pug dog I'd name Sir Pugsley.)

I kept this process going - off and on, at least - for several hours. At the end of the day, I felt decidedly healthy and energetic. And the next day, an editor of an online newsletter contacted me, out of the blue, about writing for his publication. What a delightful surprise!

Our thoughts are powerful. They are the tools with which we create our reality. I like the idea of being proactive - of choosing happy thoughts deliberately - in order to get into a good-feeling vibrational place and create desired manifestations. Abraham has been recommending these kinds of processes for twenty years, and I've come to believe they are utterly worth whatever effort is involved.

I want to do more random happy thinking, and  I've thought of a gadget to help incorporate this habit into daily life.

With every thought, we move either towards or away from our desires.

How about a wristwatch?

A what???

Yep, a wristwatch. But not any, run-of-the-mill wristwatch. This one would have an extra stem that could be clicked each time we go out of our way to think a good-feeling thought or each time we soften resistance to a subject that we're already pondering with some negative momentum.  A small numerical counter in the watch would keep track of how many happy thoughts or less-resistant thoughts we add to our vibration. We could even write down our "score" at the end of any day.

At first glance, this might seem like a silly project. But wait a minute. We discipline ourselves and keep track of progress in many other areas of life. Why not this one? This one is actually the most important one of all, for everything - EVERYTHING - that we experience comes to us via our habits of thought. No other discipline - with regard to food, exercise, budgeting, you-name-it - will reward us so well as managing our mental focus.

This brainchild wristwatch of mine could have a second extra stem, and it would be set to make a softly audible beep for 17, 34, or 68 seconds. Abraham has taught through the years that 17 seconds of holding a thought purely, without contradicted thought, results in the thought "combusting," or attracting other thoughts like it. Holding a thought for 34 seconds is, well, twice as good, and at 68 seconds, a thought prepares, if I understand Abraham correctly, to enter physical manifestation. We could use the beeps to help us gauge how long to hold a good-feeling thought.

I don't know about you, but I'd love to have something on my wrist at all times (pun sorta intended) that could help me practice these life-changing exercises. And a watch would be both functional and unobtrusive, not demanding any explanation.

I'll appreciate any feedback you might have.

Wow, Karen - loved the message. Oh - it's time for me to be a "Chatty Kathy" again - because what you wrote brings many things to mind:

First of all, I saw one of your bumper stickers in Lake Mary a month ago... I couldn't see who was driving, but it was a red car.

Second, while a specificly-designed watch for this would be great, would you believe there is a product available NOW which would do most of what you talked about?!

This is a watch that a) is a regular watch, b) has a stopwatch (you could click it quickly to add "1 second" (i.e. one tick-mark)
throughout the day, c) COUNTDOWN TIMER with Auto Repeat Feature - which means you can set it to repeatedly count down every 17 seconds, 68 seconds, or 5 minutes,
AND... d) it VIBRATES! In other words, as it gets to the end of every 68 seconds, it vibrates for 5 seconds, and then begins
another 68 second period (and keeps going until you stop it)! I have used this watch for the last 6 months for 5-minute meditations.
I also do the following: Set it for 5-minutes, and then I meditate for 5-minutes, and then do a household task for 5 minutes, and then
meditate for 5 minutes, and then do a household task for 5 minutes, etc. It produces an amazingly connected 30 minutes then - and I am hugely productive!

Omigosh, I'm happy for people's enthusiastic response to this watch idea.

And Rex, thanks for the great website link and letting us know you have one of the watches and are making great use of it!

After surfing the Internet, I stumbled on various sportswatches that would have functions similar to what I've been envisioning, but your site is the best yet. I'll see what I can come up with in men's and women's styles for people who are interested.

As for the bumper magnet, Mark and I (along with our friend Helen from St. Pete) had such a synchronicitous experience last Sunday south of Colonial when we were coming home from Unity church. There was a vehicle in front of us with the bumper magnet peering out from 2 bicycles. It's was Mary Lou - off the beaten track due to construction on the 408, I think. The funny thing was that we were just talking to Helen about the bumper magnet, and she was agreeing to take samples of the magnet to show to the bookstore folks at First Unity in her neck of the woods!

I'm tickled to hear about the magnet in Lake Mary, too!

      All is doggone well!

The bumper sticker does get attention - I notice people looking at it when my car is in the YMCA parking lot! I figure it gives folks something to think about.

I like the watch idea - my suggestion is that your looks a bit more fashionable - at least for the folks who like jewelry

Many digital watches (Timex and Casio) have a countdown timer option, where you can set it to count down for any specified time you want. And they also have repeat functions. So you could set your watch timer to 68 seconds and have it repeat or stop at the end of the 68 seconds.
